Yesterday, I went to the Capitoline Museum. It was absolutely beautiful, especially because it was part of the Campidoglio (where some government operates still...like the mayor) which was designed by Michelangelo.
The best exhibit of my day, however, was afterward.... when my friend and I went to the Jewish ghetto part of Rome for lunch. I had the gnocchi al pomodoro. I had been searching for a pasta plate which was worthy of taking a picture of...But it was so beautiful that I did not think to wait and take a photograph...and once the cheese for it was on the table...I was in a euphoria...
Perhaps, I'll have to go back to get that photograph.
Today, was a good day. I had my internship where we watched Pope John Paul II coverage which has not been released to the public. We were converting the film to DVD form for film preservation and archiving when all of a sudden the german coverage of the Pope saying the rosary had ended. Within moments, the tape was playing some soccer, but then the German version of star trek, "Terra 12" began. I never expected to be watching a german outer space sitcom in the Vatican this am.
Later, I went strolling. I found a gelato place which I had been searching for....and sad to say, I was disappointed.
So I strolled more and came across shoe vendors on the street. I spent 5 euro on a pair of shoes that probably will not fit. The vendor convinced me (and vendors normally could never convince me of anything...but at this point, I was too tired and disappointed about the mediocre gelato, that I handed him the money and took the heavy shoes.) I said to him I think they are too tight here and he said after 2 days of walking they will be fine and comfortable...We will see.
Now my next shopping excursion will have to be for a new purse..as my little white one has been thoroughly damaged by blue ink, the Metro, and chocolate gelato...This is why I never buy or wear white.
Moral of the story: Trust your instincts.
Do not know what tonight will bring...I'll check back soon. Buonasera, Deb
